These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the FableLayer website, applications, browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, accessing, or using FableLayer, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and FableLayer.

FableLayer is a personal reading archive. The information you create, save, organize, and upload belongs to you.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the personal content you create within FableLayer, including but not limited to:
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your personal content to FableLayer.
License to Operate the Service
By using FableLayer, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
This license exists solely for the purpose of operating and improving FableLayer. It ends when your content is permanently deleted from our systems, except where retention is required by law or necessary for backup recovery.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you create or upload. You agree that you will not upload or save content that:
FableLayer is designed to organize your personal reading experience. FableLayer does not host fanfiction stories obtained from third-party websites.
When you import a story from a supported source, FableLayer stores information necessary to organize your personal library, such as:
The original story remains hosted by its original website. Whenever possible, readers are directed back to the original source to read the story.

All fanfiction works remain the property of their respective authors. FableLayer does not claim ownership of fanfiction, original stories, metadata created by third-party websites, cover art supplied by users, or author profiles. FableLayer exists solely as a personal organization and reading companion platform.
User Uploads
Users may upload EPUB, PDF, or other supported files for their own personal reading and organization. By uploading a file, you represent that you have the legal right to possess or use the file, your upload does not violate applicable law, and your upload does not knowingly infringe another person's intellectual property rights.
Uploaded files remain private unless you intentionally share them through features provided by FableLayer.
Copyright Complaints
FableLayer respects intellectual property rights. If you believe material accessible through FableLayer infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us with sufficient information to identify the material and your claim.
Upon receiving a valid notice, FableLayer may investigate and, where appropriate: remove access to the material, disable public sharing, request additional information, contact the reporting party, or suspend or terminate accounts involved in repeated infringement.
FableLayer offers an optional browser extension to improve the reading experience on supported websites. The extension allows users to synchronize reading progress, save highlighted passages, record reading memories, capture personal reactions, and save personal notes.
The extension operates only on supported websites and only to provide features requested by the user. The extension does not monitor unrelated browsing activity. The extension does not collect a user's complete browsing history. The extension only processes information necessary to perform the requested reading features.
Extension functionality depends on third-party websites remaining compatible with FableLayer. Because external websites may change their design, structure, or policies without notice, FableLayer cannot guarantee uninterrupted compatibility with every supported website.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue extension features at any time.
Certain features within FableLayer use artificial intelligence to generate personalized recommendations, reading insights, summaries, classifications, and other analytical features. These features are intended to enhance the reading experience.
AI-generated information:
Recommendations and insights are generated automatically using available reading data and should not be considered definitive or exhaustive. FableLayer may improve or modify AI-powered features over time without prior notice.
FableLayer allows users to voluntarily share portions of their reading activity, including public story pages, reading milestones, shared reading progress, reading collections, and other optional sharing features.
Only information that you intentionally choose to share will be made publicly accessible. Your private reading library, memories, notes, reactions, uploaded files, and personal reading history remain private unless you explicitly choose to make them public.
You are responsible for reviewing shared content before publishing or distributing it. FableLayer may remove public content that violates these Terms or applicable laws.
You agree to use FableLayer responsibly and in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws. You agree that you will not:
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating accounts, removing content, reporting unlawful activity to appropriate authorities where required, and pursuing available legal remedies.
FableLayer offers both free and paid subscription plans. Subscription features, limits, and pricing are described within the Service and may change over time.
Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance using our third-party payment processor. By purchasing a subscription, you authorize recurring charges using your selected payment method until your subscription is cancelled. Payment processing is handled by Stripe or another authorized payment provider. FableLayer does not store your complete payment card information.
Renewals
Unless cancelled before the renewal date, subscriptions automatically renew for the same billing period. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation prevents future renewal charges but does not normally result in a refund for the current billing period, unless required by law.
Failed Payments
If payment cannot be processed, your subscription may be downgraded to the free plan, premium features may become unavailable, and we may retry payment using the payment method on file.
Pricing Changes
We may change subscription pricing from time to time. Existing subscribers will receive reasonable notice before new pricing takes effect for future renewals, where required by applicable law.
Refunds
Refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund rights required under applicable consumer protection laws.
FableLayer, including its software, visual design, branding, logos, graphics, user interface, documentation, databases, algorithms, and original content, is owned by FableLayer or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
These Terms do not grant you ownership of any part of the Service. You may not copy or reproduce FableLayer software, modify or create derivative works of the platform, sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without permission, or remove copyright or proprietary notices.
Nothing in these Terms affects the ownership rights of third-party authors whose works are imported into personal libraries. Fanfiction, original fiction, and related creative works remain the property of their respective authors or rights holders.
FableLayer integrates with third-party services to provide certain features, including fanfiction websites, authentication providers, payment processors, email delivery services, analytics providers, artificial intelligence providers, and browser extension platforms.
These third-party services operate independently of FableLayer and are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and practices. FableLayer is not responsible for the availability of third-party services, changes made by third-party platforms, content hosted by third parties, or policies adopted by third parties.
If a third-party service changes or becomes unavailable, some FableLayer features may also become unavailable.
We strive to provide a reliable and continuously improving service. However, we do not guarantee that FableLayer will always be available or operate without interruption.
From time to time we may perform maintenance, release updates, introduce new features, remove existing features, modify subscription plans, change supported websites, or suspend portions of the Service. We may also temporarily suspend access to protect the security, stability, or integrity of the platform.
FableLayer shall not be liable for temporary interruptions, maintenance periods, or service changes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FableLayer is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranty or representation that the Service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that imported information will always be complete or accurate; that external website integrations will continue indefinitely; that AI-generated recommendations or analyses will always be accurate; or that the browser extension will remain compatible with every supported website.
Your use of the Service is at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, applicable legal rights remain unaffected.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FableLayer, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service, including loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, loss of goodwill, device malfunction, browser extension incompatibility, third-party service failures, errors in AI-generated content, temporary service outages, or unauthorized access resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of: the amount you paid to FableLayer during the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100), except where a greater amount is required under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Suspension by FableLayer
FableLayer reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, violated applicable laws, used the Service in a fraudulent or deceptive manner, attempted to compromise the security or stability of the platform, circumvented subscription limits or payment systems, repeatedly infringed the intellectual property rights of others, used automated tools to scrape or harvest platform data without authorization, or engaged in abusive or harmful conduct toward other users or FableLayer staff.
Where appropriate, we may suspend access while investigating suspected violations. We reserve the right to remove content or disable specific features without prior notice if necessary to protect the Service, our users, or third parties.
Termination by You
You may stop using FableLayer at any time and permanently delete your account through your account settings. Account deletion will permanently remove or anonymize your personal account information, reading history, memories, notes, collections, and other personal content in accordance with our Privacy Policy, except where retention is required by law or reasonably necessary for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Deletion of your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription. Subscription cancellation must be completed separately through your account settings.
FableLayer retains personal information only for as long as necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce these Terms.
When you delete your account:
Backup copies may remain in secure backup systems for a limited period before being permanently overwritten.
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, storage, and protection of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy.
By using FableLayer, you acknowledge that your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding personal information, the Privacy Policy will govern matters relating to privacy.
FableLayer is continuously evolving. We may add, remove, modify, or discontinue features, tools, integrations, subscription plans, or portions of the Service at any time, including new AI capabilities, new supported fanfiction websites, changes to browser extension functionality, updates to reading memories, modifications to recommendation systems, changes to subscription plans, and improvements to the user interface.
While we strive to provide advance notice of significant changes, we are not obligated to maintain any specific feature indefinitely.
We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our services, applicable law, security improvements, new features, or business operations. The "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms indicates when the latest version became effective.
For material changes, we may notify users through the Service, by email, or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of FableLayer after revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of those updated Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service.
FableLayer shall not be responsible for delays, interruptions, or failures to perform resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, fires, floods, severe weather, internet outages, power failures, cyberattacks, government actions, labor disputes, pandemics, or failures of third-party service providers. During such events, our obligations under these Terms may be suspended for the duration of the event.
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any legal proceedings arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought before the courts having jurisdiction in the Province of New Brunswick, unless applicable law provides otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights available under applicable law.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any additional policies expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and FableLayer regarding your use of the Service. They supersede all prior agreements, understandings, communications, and representations relating to the Service.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other right.
